Found this from my creative writing class senior year (2004).
Things to tell a younger me or for an older me to remember.

Live life. Don’t hold anything back, and have faith in what you believe. Never back down against anyone else or give in your ideals for them. Keep an open mind regarding anything that may come into your life. Don’t discredit something simply because you don’t understand it. Treat others in the manner in which you wish to be treated, and don’t let people get to you. Their opinions and words don’t mean a thing. All that does matter is how you feel about yourself. Be courteous and generous, even if the favor is not well received. Keeping your values in a world where there are none is worth as much as a thousand thank-yous, but don’t stop giving them out yourself, either. Don’t hold anything back, even if you don’t like where you think it may lead you. In the end, the journey and destination will be worth any pain. Take risks. Caution is best exercised in moderation like anything else, and being too careful will seal you up by yourself. Never desire to be alone. Despite what many may advocate, to love and to be loved is a greater gift than anything material anyone could ever give you. Most importantly, always follow your heart no matter where it leads you. It knows you better than anyone else and will never steer you wrong."

Pokemon and Education
Just a quick little thought...
When I was younger, I used to wonder why the trainers in Pokemon that were still kids didn't seem to attend school. I read one story where an author explained this away in an interesting manner, but I was just thinking myself. Education is something we here in the "first world" consider to be important and necessary. Pokemon doesn't even take place in this same world (possibly a variation of it since real world places are mentioned both in original Japanese and in the dub). So why would they necessarily think that our brand of eduction is important since Pokemon seem to be such a huge fixture in that world? They wouldn't necessarily, and there's nothing wrong with it.
Just the thoughts of someone studying anthropology and learning to appreciate other cultures, I guess.

Pondering and Stuff
So I was thinking the other day and never put it down anywhere solid. We observe the universe and try to understand it with our brains and the limitations of said brains and senses. It is impossible that we are the only lifeforms out there in the vacuum that is space. I try and apply logic and science to concepts and even made up things like anime or TV or movies. But I am wrong in doing this. Imagine that there is something more out there that we cannot possibly understand. Or maybe we can someday but just haven't found it out or been shown it. Imagine there are beings across the universe way more advanced than us. What we think is impossible isn't. What we can observe and apply and understand may very well be shallow.
Did you ever think of that? It seems somewhat awe-inspiring and yet so simple at the same time. Kind of like how short and small our life is compared to the universe.
All of this is courtesy of Tenchi Muyo! and Washu to be even more specific.
I watch too much YouTube...

Simple Things
"I'm torn between what I know and what I dream." - Armin Van Buuren ft. Justine Suissa, "Simple Things" from Shivers.
I was thinking in the shower this morning about stuff like I usually do because it's such a good place to think as long as you're not rushed. That line popped into my head. Then while I was in the classroom I visit to do fieldwork I was scribbling and thinking as their passing period was in progress. I know I need a real job to get by in this life, and I want to be a teacher more than anything else ever, even going to Hyrule or being with Jon as more than just friends. But I also have always said I wanted to be a published writer someday. Both of those are dreams, but the second is impractical and would not be a way to support myself.
That explains the quote, and I felt like just putting that out there so I can remember what I was thinking today.

If Only
We take comfort in the past when our present is boring and our future is cloudy. The more we tether ourselves to those memories, the more shackled we become in our present with the inability to move on. What was will never be again, and letting go of that is the key to clearing up the path to what is next. Time moves on in its never ending flow, and people need to move on with it.
“So how long will it be ‘til I can let go?”
